Bedside Lamps
Bedside Lamps
Recently featured in a Royal Mail collection of British design classics, the Anglepoise company is this year celebrating the invention of the original 1227 Anglepoise lamp seventy-five years ago. The beauty of this, our most definitive design, is its versatility. Used for every type of lighting purpose from bedside lamps to desk lamp, Anglepoise has since developed this brilliant design for use in large-scale office lighting.
The first of our famous lamps was designed by George Carwardine in 1932 and revolutionised the way in which light can be manipulated according to the task at hand. It was this ability to shift the light emphasis for reading, writing and close work that helped to make these lamps a classic in terms of light direction and reach.
Whether you place an Anglepoise lamp in an office situation or substitute a Type 1227 model for the usual choice of bedside lamps, you'll see the difference in terms of illumination immediately. We have, over the seventy-five years since the Carwardine model, created newer versions of his original lamps. These include the now iconic Type 75 model, created in 1970's by Kenneth Grange. No matter which of our models you choose, you can be sure of getting the exact reach and angle of light you need, whether you're looking for bedside table lamps or table lamps.
Choose from our range of bedside lamps with base or clamp features in order to direct the light you crave in the exact position you require. Having just re-launched the original design to celebrate its birthday, why not invest in a 1227 lamp to set the scene in your bedroom?
